CLASS CATALOG

PERFORMANCE ARTS

Let the fun begin! These classes focus on creative performance and basic skills. From theatre to dance to music, these classes will get you moving and excited about creating and telling the story of God.

CLASS FULL Grades 1, 2, & 3 – Dance, Hip Hop and More!: If words like locking, popping, old skool, and krumping make you want to move, then check a more “down” dance style, Hip Hop. We’ll learn both basic dance, as well as some beginning hip hop moves, and put it all together for a “phat” Showcase piece to be performed. CLASS FULL

Materials: Depending on the class, different types of dance shoes may be suggested, but if they cannot be purchased, socks are preferred to tennis shoes or bare feet. Shoe details will be provided upon registration. Clothes should be comfortable but form fitting. This allows the teacher to be able to see what the child’s body is doing during movement. No bare midriffs please. Long hair should be pulled up or back.

Grades 1, 2, & 3 – Theatre, Faces, Feelings, and Expressions!: Prepare to be amazed as you transform from a frightened mouse into a fearless lion. This class involves lots of imagining, pretending, game playing, and acting fun while developing self-confidence and stage presence.

Materials: Students may be asked to bring items from home for class exercise. If so, these will be items commonly found in most homes and should not be purchased. Nothing extra will be needed on the first day.

Grades 1, 2, & 3 – Intro to Music: If you like to beat, bang, and keep time, you’ll love this class. We’ll learn basic rhythms and work towards performing together.

VISUAL ARTS

Through a variety of art mediums, students enter the world of Visual Arts exploring, experimenting, and creating one-of-a-kind treasures. They will discover the creative genius of God and our natural ability to create because we are made in His image.

Grades 1 & 2 – Art Explosion: Using art masters of the past to guide us, we’ll use basic art elements like color, line, shape, pattern, and texture to create unique masterpieces.

Grades 3 & 4 – Sketching: Experiment with how to view an object and reconstruct it on paper using basic sketching tools. Students learn how to draw with pencils, pens, charcoals and pastels. Start your creative journey now!

Grades 5 & 6 – Photography: Explore and experiment in photography. As students look at life through the lens of a camera, they will begin to see the world in a new and exciting way.

CLASS FULL Grades 5 & 6 – Acrylics: Using multiple acrylics as well as other mediums and art forms, this class will explore and refine the art elements of color, patterns and textures. Options are limitless and boundless for what this class will create day-to-day. CLASS FULL

Materials: Students should wear old clothes and/or bring a paint shirt to protect clothing. Some projects may be messy!

CREATIVE CRAFTSMANSHIP

Students in Creative Craftsmanship are not limited to one medium or genre, but get to create in a variety of unique and unexpected ways! From fun, exploratory crafts in Crafty Combos to challenging and unique projects in Woodworking, in this track students see the creative genius of God while developing the unique, hands on skills he gave them.

CLASS FULL Grades 1 & 2 – Crafty Combos: Using mixed mediums like paint, fabric, paper, glue, and paper-mache, and more, we’ll make unique, and memorable craft creations! CLASS FULL

Grades 3 & 4 – Ceramics & Clay: Roll it, pound it, squish it, and shape it. Clay!! Transform soft, malleable, low fire white and terra cotta clay into fired and glazed treasures.

Grades 5 & 6 – Woodworking: Transform raw pieces of wood into beautiful and useful creations. As woodworkers we’ll learn how to use both hand tools and power tools to craft projects we’ll be proud to use and display.

Materials: Students should wear old clothes and/or bring a paint shirt to protect clothing. Some projects may be messy!

CULINARY ARTS

Food not only fuels us, it can inspire and cultivate creativity in very “satisfying” ways. Students in this track will learn some basic food vocabulary, safety in the kitchen, experiment with tools of the trade, and have hands on experience in creating culinary delights.

CLASS FULL Grades 5 & 6 – Kitchen Creations: Is cooking your calling? Learn how do dice, slice and julienne and how to make food you can’t wait to display, taste, and share. CLASS FULL

Materials: Closed toe shoes and long pants are required in the kitchen. Hair should be pulled up or back for all classes.
